Sir John Colborne is the individual from whom the Village of Colborne derives its name.
It is recorded that, subsequent to a visit by Sir John to Young Joe Keeler in the community
until then known simply as "The Corners", it was decided by the residents that henceforth
it be known as Colborne in honor of Upper Canada's Governor.
